"Raised by" Example Poem and Frame

You can use the following frame for each stanza:

I was raised by
(imagery detail)
(imagery detail)
(imagery detail)
(imagery detail)
Kind of (person).

Fill in the parentheses with your own ideas. Of course, you can vary the wording of the frame or diverge, but remember to at least stick to the requirements listed at the bottom of the front of Assignment #25.

Here is my personal "Raised by" poem:

I was raised by
pen to paper scribbling and scratching
computer keys click clacking
comic book drawing
write until 5 AM in the morning
because your story demands that you do
kind of creative mind.

I was raised by
Zelda sword wielding “Hyah!”
Kirby pink puffball puffing
Super Smash Brother fighting
bass-pumping
musical arrow stomping
kind of video games.

I was raised by
slow vietnamese ballad
saturday morning jamming
Sizzling shrimp and scallop
stirfried in a wok with a giant chopstick
“Get straight A’s or you’re getting spanked”
with said chopstick
kind of mother.

I was raised by
wake me up at 8 in the morning on a Saturday
to drag me out to a tennis court
durian stinking up the whole damn fridge
the yellow slimy flesh smelling like
rotten mangos
onions
gym socks
“we don’t talk about problems” --
we throw things instead
kind of father.

I was raised.
